New heritage products launched
The BIDC has launched a new line of products to capitalize on Barbados’ UNESCO heritage rank for Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison.
The products were all developed by local artisans and micro businesses, and branded by the BIDC’s Design Unit under the Bridgetown Heritage Collection label.
The collection includes:
• Broad Street Selections: a line of Street wear, Caps, T-Shirts, and Souvenirs
• Pierhead Temptations: comprising Liqueurs, Wines, Chocolates, Confectionery, Sweet Potato Cookies and Herbal Teas
• Carlisle Bay Fresh: which covers Spa products; Bath and Body Salves
• Rachel Pringle Piquant: a line of Pepper Sauces, Spices and Chutneys.
This new product development project was twinned with a souvenir sales initiative, for the craft, food and botanicals sub-sectors. Product sold under this initiative will be bundled and packaged under a Barbados Uh Come From tag. Our intention is drive export sales while elevating Barbados’ brand identity.
It is expected that the new products could push onshore exports to visiting tourists and could position the island to capture substantial foreign exchange revenue.
The products will be retailed through the Islandcrafts sales outlets.
